"Look in the mirror, Keya. Look and see just how beautiful you really are." A quote Mrs. Trammell often used in her daughter's early life. At the age of 2, Keya was diagnosed with the auto immune disease, Alopecia Totalis; A complete loss of scalp hair occurring either all at once or within a short time. Growing up Keya often dealt with mental and emotional abuse from other children because of her lack of hair. The one aspect of life she felt made her whole was music. Following her passion for the love of music has allowed her the opportunity to perform alongside artist such as Kim Stratton, voice coaches Michael & Lana Manson, Stellar Award-Winning Angela Martin, Stellar Award-Winning Tony Tidwell, Master Pianist Lee Hartzol, Dometi Pongo, Larry Brown Jr. and most recently was the opening act for Keke Wyatt and many others. Keya has gained international notoriety due to a Facebook video that went viral of her singing the cover of Erykah Badu's “On & On”, which gained 1.3 million views. She has released a stepping song, "Windy City Step", in which can be purchased through Itunes. She has also released an EP, "The Unknown Agenda" available for purchase on Itunes, Tidal, Spotify, Amazon Music, CdBaby.com. You can catch Keya performing her EP live with her band the “Funky Flowers” at different venues across the city of Chicago. Keya's mission is to create music that speaks love and truth to others, in hopes that it brings awareness and knowledge of self.
