Since 1988, the two-man rock band B'Z (pronounced ?beez?) -- made up of vocalist Inaba Koshi and guitarist Matsumoto Tak -- has released 30 singles and 20 albums, all of which have gone straight to the No.1 in the Oricon charts, a stunning achievement. B'z rank as the all-time top selling music act in Japan with over 86 million records sold to date. (For some perspective, Aerosmith has sold 64 million in America, Elvis 106 million, and the Eagles with 85 million; see figures at the official RIAA site.) Their concerts, numbering as high as eighty-seven shows a year, are always sold out within mere hours after tickets go on sale. Inaba's distinctive vocal style and Matsumoto's fiery guitar work make for a brand of rock that resembles the "visual" (bijuaru kei) bands that were particularly popular in the '90s. But B'z has a more down-to-earth rock ?n? roll style, exploring and fusing blues, jazz, dance and pop. Tak Matsumoto is one of the world's greatest guitarists and the only Asian to have two signature Gibson guitars.
