Andy Williams Christmas Show
Event Info:
ANDY WILLIAMS, America?s musical ambassador of Christmas, is bringing his 2004 Christmas stage show, to the McCaw Hall this December. Andy will perform all of the seasonal favorites as well as many of his greatest hits. There are many who remember sitting in front of the television each year and watching Andy and his family and their Christmas celebration. Millions made the show a holiday tradition for many years. The popularity of the television special led to the idea of putting together a seasonal concert. The late President Ronald Reagan once referred to Andy Williams? voice as ?a national treasure.? Andy?s first album was released in 1956 which yielded four smash hits, including his first #1 ?Butterfly,? ?Are You Sincere,? Lonely Street? and ?The Hawaiian Wedding Song,? for which he received the first of his five Grammy Award nominations. Around the same time he hosted his first network television series and began a long string of specials. In the ?60s he released such hits as ?Can?t Get Used To Losing You,? ?Days of Wine and Roses,? ?Charade,? ?Dear Heart? and ?Love Story.? During this period he also appeared on the Academy Awards and performed what has become his theme song ever since, ?Moon River.? During his career Andy has amassed almost 20 gold albums and three that reached platinum status. In the Fall of 1963, Andy premiered his NBC variety show, ?The Andy Williams Show,? which would last nine years, win three Emmy Awards and lead to the first of his classic Christmas specials. He has gone on to become an international superstar, with tremendous worldwide record sales and record-breaking tours on four continents. In addition to his Christmas Tour, Andy continues to perform approximately 150 shows a year at his Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri. He works just as hard today as he did when his career began. The only difference is he loves what he?s been doing even more today than he did back then.
