Drawn from 20 years of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music, the show will feature a full evening of Christmas music, from honored American traditions to international favorites. In addition to the trademark music, Mannheim Steamroller creates a winter wonderland inside the arena itself. Outfitted with hundreds of lighted garlands, wreaths, velvet drape and extensive theatrical lighting, the venue surprises the audience with it intimacy and character. The arena floor features a 3,000 square foot Christmas Village, complete with a working electrical train, live toy soldiers, elves and gingerbread men. The audience is invited to bring still cameras to capture all the sights and sounds of this family-centered Christmas spectacular.
With it's unusual name, Mannheim Steamroller re-invented Christmas music as a serious business with its initial blockbuster release in 1984 called Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. Since then, Mannheim Steamroller has rocketed to international acclaim with its exhilarating sound and rhythm, and is best known for its now-classic arrangements of "Silent Night", "Deck the Halls", and "Angels We Have Heard on High". Over the past two decades, the band has released seven Christmas titles, including this season's Christmas Celebration, and has sold more than 30 million albums, and is one of the top selling artists of all time.
Mannheim Steamroller is a staple in American homes during the holidays and nothing makes founder and composer Chip Davis happier. "To think that I have a place in family traditions all over the country and the world is overwhelming, gratifying and humbling," he says.
The audience will be treated to the elaborate video display that has become synonymous with Mannheim Steamroller, and a 22-piece orchestra composed of local, professional musicians will accompany the seven-member band.
