Join us in Foundation Room for a special performance from Tomar & the FCs! Tomar and the FCs is a soul band from Austin, Texas formed in 2015. Tomar Williams got his start singing lead on the Chitlin Circuit with his family band, spent decades as a keyboardist and backup vocalist (Latasha Lee and the Black Ties, Hot Butter Rhythm), and is an experienced hip-hop producer (Carnival Beats, Mike Jones, Big Moe).
“Heart Attack,” the band’s debut album, was released in November of 2016. It was recorded and mixed at Level One studio with Grammy-winning artist/engineer Adrian Quesada. KUTX wrote that the album is “Pure soul, pure energy…Heart Attack, the single from the band’s latest album of the same name, is an electric three minute ride of some of the purest blues/soul we’ve heard lately.”
In early 2018, the band was voted in the top five of the Austin Chronicle’s Music Poll for Best Blues, Funk, or Soul Artist. In March, they returned to SXSW performing as official artists and were awarded a prestigious Black Fret nomination.
