Ermias Joseph Asghedom was a rapper, community activist, business owner and a proud Crenshaw, Los Angeles native. Widely known by his stage name, Nipsey Hussle became popular for his straightforward lyrics about gang life, community empowerment, cultural awareness and business ownership. He embodied a culture that is often intentionally misinterpreted and disrespected. And he embraced the work necessary to overcome the bias and prejudice that seeks to tear down the community he so heavily involved himself with. Taken from his family, his mission, his city and the rap community too soon, Neighborhood Nip leaves behind a legacy too large to forget but too important to fail. Hip Hop Book Club invites you to join us in an unprecedented live show discussion about Nipsey Hussle. Centered around his musical impact and career, this discussion will not focus on a particular album, instead we will honor his legacy by creating a dialogue within each pillar about his overall musical impact.
