About the Artist:
Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, MUSA began DJing in 2008. She has traveled all over the country playing Pitchfork Festival, Mad Decent Monday’s Philly, Art Basel Miami, Buku Music & Arts Project + Voodoo Fest (both New Orleans), Fashion Week (NYC and Paris), and many more. In her hometown, she started the notoriously wild weekly party, Obsession, at The Saint which ran for 7 wonderful years. She has been a regular at NYC’s Le Bain and Boom Boom Room of the Standard Hotel NYC, Mr. Fong’s and Max Fish. She was also a regular at Le Baron in NYC and Paris before they closed their doors for good.
In March 2012 she joined rapper/artist, Spank Rock, as his performance DJ and back up singer/dancer, playing several SXSW showcases, Zouk Singapore, Afro-Punk Festival in Brooklyn and more. MUSA and Spank Rock supported a two and a half month long European tour with German DJ/producer, Boys Noize, performing in 21 cities. In that tour they headlined such festivals as I Love Techno in Gent, The Warehouse Project in Manchester, Marsatac in Marseille and played some of the world’s greatest clubs like The Limelight in Milan, The Coronet in London, Razzmataz in Barcelona and Columbia Hallen in Berlin. The following year they performed the first Vice/Converse ‘Cons Space’ event in Barcelona with the Black Lips. That same year MUSA and Spank Rock performed at All Tomorrow’s Parties in the UK, curated by TV on the Radio, with renowned artists as De La Soul, CSS, El-P (of Run the Jewels), Saul Williams, Light Asylum, Thee Oh Sees and more.
MUSA has since gone on to play solo all over Europe. Lapérouse Paris, Cannes Film Festival, Bologna’s Modern Art Museum (MAMBO), and NME Awards at 100 Club with Twin Peaks, SoHo Radio, Clam Jam and Shackwell Arms in London.
Last year MUSA completed a month long tour and performed an activation at Las Vegas Festival, Life is Beautiful, for Dos Equis. This year she has already performed the official Dos Equis activation for the College Football National Championship playoff game in Tampa, opened for T-Pain at Mardi Gras world during Mardi Gras/All Stars and performed at Buku Music & Arts Project for the 2nd time. She has also begun curating music, with her latest clients being The Shop @ New Orleans’ Contemporary Arts Center (CAC).
