About the Artist:  

Gabrielle Cavassa is a vocalist with an uncommon and honest expression. A rising talent, Gabrielle’s participation as a finalist in the 2018 International Sarah Vaughan Jazz Vocal Competition marked the beginning of her critical success and visibility on the jazz world stage. Best known for her warm and distinctive tone, Gabrielle sings with a musical maturity and playfulness that, at age 24, has earned the respect of her audience and peers.

At age 17, Gabrielle was featured on hit television show, American Idol, where she was dubbed “incredibly unique” and “a real jazz singer” by celebrity judges Stephen Tyler and Randy Jackson. At age 18, she began her educational and professional career in San Francisco. She studied music at San Francisco State University (B.A., Jazz Studies) but professes to have received her “real education” every night on the bandstand. Under the informal tutelage of imminent San Francisco jazz musicians, she performed at venues from Club Deluxe, the historic jazz club where she got her start, to state-of-the-art jazz facility, SFJAZZ.

Seeking a change, Gabrielle moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 2017, where she currently resides. A part of the new generation of jazz musicians making music in New Orleans, Gabrielle leads a jam session at French Quarter club, The Starlight. Her band features Ryan Hanseler, Lex Warshawsky, and Jamison Ross.

Gabrielle is planning to release her first album in 2020.
