Show/Artist Info: For the Culture is a new monthly show series featuring local acts representing different cultures. For fans looking for an authentic local music experience, this is THE SHOW. In typical New Orleans fashion, it will be no surprise if other local bands and artists show up to turn out making this one unforgettable jam session.
This month, For the Culture celebrates the deep musical culture of New Orleans and will feature New Orleans brass band, Brass-A-Holics. The band brings a heavy dose of go-go funk to the New Orleans brass sound. Whether performing their original music or using the framework of hit pop songs as springboards for fiery improvisations, there is something in the set to appeal to every music fan. Vegas Cola (yes, that's her real name) will also be performing this night. Vegas is a veteran New Orleans singer having performed for over 20 years. A native New Orleanian from Treme, she's one of few black women band leaders holding down multiple headlining spots on tourist-favored Frenchmen Street. Her band blends an exceptionally curated mix of R&B, soul, and funk music with an unforgettably energetic performance that begs for a repeat viewing. She is a consummate favorite of tourists and locals alike with a rapidly growing fan base and relentless schedule. The Vegas Cola Band established in 2002, recently won the local artist showcase for the Essence Festival and will be performing this year at Essence. Have a listen here.
